They say that mothers used to let their daughters sit in the parlor playing this with a boy alone. If the music stopped, the mother knew to come back into the room to check up on things. :)

Yard to-do List

These are things things I still have yet to do in the yard, besides the normal mowing, weeding, and watering.

  • dig up sod to create flower bed in back
  • place removed sod in grassless areas of yard
  • plant grass in other areas of yard
  • plant perrenials in newley-created back flower bed
  • buy annuals for containers/planters
  • buy and plant bush for next to the front stoop
  • buy and spread more woodchips for play area in back yard
  • buy and spread cocoa mulch in all flower beds
  • buy and lpace thin bricks for front flower bed edging
  • buy and place aluminum edging for back flower beds
  • buy and plant herbs
  • prune wintercreeper and booxwoods
  • find some sort of tall grass that will grow in partial shade

Things I have already done:

  • Removed some sod and planted it in bare areas
  • moved boxwoods and burning bush
  • moved all hostas in landscaping to one area
  • moved all daylilies in landscaping to one area
  • removed sand pit and leveled it with surrounding dirt
  • moved boulders that edged sand pit
  • spread woodchips in newly formed area
  • turned soil in front bed and removed roots
  • planted perrenials in front bed
  • removed scragly wintercreeper from front stoop

This is what it means to have a house with a yard, a yard you want to look nice…
