I know it’s a lot to ask people to click play on a video with a so-bad-it’s-good admonition, but my friends and I have been enjoying this otherworldly middle-school performance of “Born To Be Wild” for more than a decade.
The confluence of for-lack-of-a-better-word choices: the arrangement, the tempo, the drum fills, and a vocalist who bends time and pitch into new dimensions (and defies the pop-psy literature about sixth-grade girls’ collapse of confidence).
Together it makes something that wouldn’t have seemed out of place in a black box theater on the Lower East Side.
If this doesn’t make it to the top of the internet, I don’t know what should.

We launched Google Reader in 2005 in an effort to make it easy for people to discover and keep tabs on their favorite websites. While the product has a loyal following, over the years usage has declined. So, on July 1, 2013, we will retire Google Reader. Users and developers interested in RSS alternatives can export their data, including their subscriptions, with Google Takeout over the course of the next four months.
